It combines Electric Latch Retraction (ELR) with a fail-safe electrified ETL trim, so a loss of power unlocks the lever for free passage while the latch can be retracted electrically for controlled access, remote release, or integration with access control systems. The J option provides hex key dogging for mechanical push-pull operation during high-traffic periods. Running on 24V, this device offers dependable security, smooth egress, and clean aesthetics for schools, healthcare, office, and institutional facilities that require reliable life-safety performance.

Features

Electric Latch Retraction (ELR) allows remote and automatic latchbolt retraction for access control integration.

Fail-safe operation unlocks the ETL lever trim automatically when power is removed.

Rim-mounted design fits single doors from 37 to 42 inches in width.

Hex key dogging (J option) permits mechanical push-pull free operation.

24V electrified configuration for compatibility with common low-voltage systems.

Grade 1 construction engineered for heavy-duty commercial use.

Functional Details

The 8873 configuration provides electric latch retraction with fail-safe electrified trim. When energized, the device can retract the latch for momentary or sustained access, and the lever remains controlled by power status. On power loss, the outside lever becomes free, allowing immediate entry to support life-safety and secured egress requirements.

Electric Latch Retraction
