Built with electric latch retraction (ELR) and configured as fail secure, this device keeps the opening locked when power is lost while allowing the latch to retract electrically for remote release or integration with access control systems. It is designed for doors measuring 43 to 48 inches wide and ships less cylinder, giving you flexibility to match your preferred keying. The 56- prefix indicates a 12V DC operating voltage, and hex key dogging allows the latch to be held retracted for push/pull operation during peak traffic.

Features

Electric latch retraction allows the latch to be withdrawn electrically for remote or access-controlled entry.

Fail secure operation keeps the opening locked when power is interrupted for added security.

Sized for wide door applications covering 43 to 48 inch door widths.

Supplied less cylinder so the device can be keyed to match an existing system.

Hex key dogging holds the latch retracted for free passage during high-traffic periods.

Rim-mounted design for surface installation on single or paired doors.

Operates on 12V DC power for compatibility with common access control setups.

Functional Details

As a fail secure electric latch retraction device, applying power retracts the latch to allow entry, while removing power leaves the device securely locked. Momentary or sustained signals from an access control system, card reader, or push button can control latch retraction without interfering with free egress from the inside.

Included Components

The device includes the rim exit chassis with electric latch retraction hardware and integrated hex key dogging.
