Built for doors ranging from 37 to 42 inches wide and up to 96 inches in height, this device pairs the 8700 series surface vertical rod design with ET exterior trim and the J lever for comfortable, code-compliant access. The passage function allows free entry and exit without latching the bottom rod, since this configuration ships less bottom rod to accommodate installations where a bottom latch is not needed. Hex key dogging lets staff hold the latch retracted for high-traffic periods, making it a practical choice for schools, offices, and institutional buildings.

Features

Surface-mounted vertical rod exit device from the Sargent 8700 series.

Passage function provides unrestricted entry and egress with no outside key control required.

ET trim with the J lever for ergonomic, ADA-friendly operation.

Sized for doors 37 to 42 inches wide and 96 inches tall.

Hex key dogging allows mechanical hold-back of the latch for continuous push/pull traffic.

Supplied less bottom rod to simplify installation where only a top latch is used.

Durable construction suited to heavy commercial and institutional use.

Functional Details

The passage (exit only) function lets the door open freely from both sides whenever the device is dogged, while the ET lever trim retracts the latch from the exterior.
