Functional Details
The friction hold open function allows the door to stay open at a selected position on the pull side without relying on a positive stop. This configuration is useful where temporary hold-open convenience is needed while still maintaining the controlled closing performance of a surface closer. Because it is part of a tri-mount closer body, the 1601H can be adapted to several common mounting arrangements while preserving the hold-open function when used in the proper arm application.
- Hold open points range from 85° to 110°, hold open range from 90° to 180° of opening.
- Friction hold open arms are intended for use on the pull side of the door only.
- Arm has a templated stop/hold open point at 90°.
Arm Type Details
This model uses a friction hold open arm for pull-side mounting. Unlike a standard arm that simply closes the door after opening, this arm applies adjustable friction so the door can remain open at a chosen point within the allowed range. It is best suited for locations where convenience is desired but where the opening conditions allow a pull-side closer and arm assembly.
Included Components
The closer is supplied as a tri-mounted surface closer body with friction hold open pull-side arm configuration and non-handed mounting capability. Fasteners and standard mounting components are included per Norton packaging for the selected application type.
