Application & Use Cases

Deadlocking/guarded latches use an auxiliary deadlatch that is held in by the strike when the door is closed, preventing the main latch from being slipped or picked with a card or shim.

On SARGENT 10X Grade 1 locks, the stainless steel deadlocking/guarded latch is standard on security functions or keyed functions (office, entrance, intruder, communicating, classroom, storeroom, electrified) or key functions to resist abuse and latch attacks, while non‑keyed passage/privacy functions typically use non‑deadlocking or unguarded latches.
