Sargent 12-56-8873-J-ETP-24V Electrified Fire Rated Rim Exit Device, Electric Latch Retraction, Fail Safe Power Off Unlocks Lever, No Cylinder, For 37-42 Inch Width Door, Less Dogging
The Sargent 12-56-8873-J-ETP-24V is a heavy-duty electrified rim exit device built for fire-rated openings measuring 37 to 42 inches wide. It combines reliable panic exit hardware with Electric Latch Retraction (ELR), allowing the latch to be pulled back electrically for momentary access control, remote operation, or integration with automatic operators. The fail-safe design means that when power is removed, the outside ETP lever unlocks, supporting code-compliant egress and emergency scenarios. Supplied in a 24V configuration with the J-style ETP lever trim and no cylinder, this device is less dogging as required for fire-rated applications, delivering durable, dependable performance in commercial and institutional settings.
Features
- Electrified fire-rated rim exit device suited for high-traffic commercial openings.
- Electric Latch Retraction (ELR) allows the latch bolt to be retracted electrically for remote or scheduled access.
- Fail-safe operation unlocks the outside lever when power is removed for safe egress.
- Sized for doors 37 to 42 inches in width.
- Less dogging to maintain fire-rated code compliance.
- ETP lever trim with the J (standard) lever design.
- Supplied without a cylinder for flexible keying options.
- Operates on 24V DC power.
Functional Details
The Electric Latch Retraction function electrically withdraws the latch, holding the exit device in a retracted state so the door can be pushed or pulled freely or operated by an automatic operator. When paired with the ETP fail-safe trim, removing power releases the outside lever to permit entry, ensuring continuous egress and access during power loss.
- Electric latch retraction retracts the latch bolt electrically.
- Fail safe: power off unlocks the outside lever.
- Fire rated, less dogging.
Arm Type Details
This device uses the J-style ETP electrified lever trim, a standard lever profile that controls outside access. In the fail-safe mode, the lever is locked while energized and unlocks when power is interrupted, allowing the door to be opened from the outside during a power failure.
Included Components
The device ships with the 8873 rim exit chassis, ETP electrified lever trim with P lever, and the integrated 24V electric latch retraction mechanism. No cylinder is included, allowing the installer to specify their preferred keying.
