The Sargent 12-8715-J-ETJ-96 is a fire-rated surface vertical rod exit device engineered for demanding commercial openings up to 42 inches wide and 96 inches tall. Configured for passage function with the ET trim and J lever, it provides free ingress and egress without locking, making it ideal for high-traffic corridors and labeled fire doors. As part of Sargent's heavy-duty 80 Series, this device delivers reliable panic hardware performance with surface-mounted top and bottom rods that secure the door at two points. Functional Details
The passage (exit only / free egress) function lets the door open from either side at all times without engaging a lock. Depressing the push rail or operating the outside lever retracts the top and bottom latch bolts, allowing immediate passage.
- Passage function - latch bolts retract by lever from outside and push rail from inside at all times; no locking.
Arm Type Details
This unit uses surface-mounted vertical rods that extend to the head and sill of the frame. When the exit device is activated, both the top and bottom latch bolts retract simultaneously, releasing the door at two points for secure yet smooth operation.
