Sargent 56-8873-J-ETP-24V Electrified Rim Exit Device, Electric Latch Retraction, Fail Safe Power Off Unlocks Lever, For 37-42 Inch Width Door, Hex Key Dogging

The Sargent 56-8873-J-ETP-24V is a heavy-duty electrified rim exit device built for high-traffic commercial openings that demand reliable access control. Featuring electric latch retraction (ELR), this device retracts the latch electronically to allow remote or automated entry, while the fail-safe design unlocks the ETP lever during a power loss to support safe egress and controlled access. Designed for doors measuring 37 to 42 inches wide, it includes hex key dogging for convenient mechanical hold-open and a 24V operating voltage. Combining durable Grade 1 construction with electrified functionality, this exit device is an excellent fit for access-controlled entrances, institutional facilities, and secure commercial buildings.

Features

  • Electric latch retraction (ELR) for remote and automated door operation.
  • Fail-safe configuration unlocks the lever when power is removed.
  • Rim-mounted design suited for single doors and select double-door applications.
  • Sized for doors between 37 and 42 inches in width.
  • Hex key dogging allows the latch to be held retracted for push/pull use.
  • 24V operation for compatibility with common access-control power supplies.
  • Includes the ETP lever trim for exterior access control.
  • Grade 1 rated for durability in demanding commercial environments.

Functional Details

The 56-8873 series uses electric latch retraction to pull the latch back electronically, enabling momentary or sustained hands-free access. In its fail-safe configuration, removing power releases the outside lever to allow entry, which supports egress and emergency access requirements.

  • Electric latch retraction (ELR) retracts the latch electrically for remote operation.
  • Fail safe: power off unlocks the outside lever.
  • Hex key dogging holds the pushbar depressed for push/pull function.

Included Components

This exit device ships with the rim exit mechanism, the ETP lever trim for exterior access, and the hex key dogging hardware for field-adjustable hold-open.
