Sargent 56-8874-F-ETJ-24V Electrified Rim Exit Device, Electric Latch Retraction, Fail Secure Power Off Locks Lever, No Cylinder, For 33-36 Inch Width Door, Hex Key Dogging
The Sargent 56-8874-F-ETJ-24V is a heavy-duty electrified rim exit device built for high-traffic commercial openings that require remote access control. Featuring electric latch retraction (ELR), this device retracts the latch electronically to allow momentary or sustained free access, making it ideal for integration with card readers, timers, and building automation systems. The fail secure configuration keeps the outside lever locked when power is removed, maintaining security during outages. Designed for doors measuring 33 to 36 inches wide, it includes the ETJ lever trim, operates on 24V, and comes with hex key dogging for mechanical latch hold-back. A durable choice for schools, hospitals, and office buildings.
Features
- Electric latch retraction (ELR) allows the latch to be retracted remotely for access control integration.
- Fail secure operation keeps the outside lever locked when power is lost, preserving door security.
- Sized for doors 33 to 36 inches in width for flexible installation.
- Includes the ETJ lever trim for comfortable, code-compliant egress.
- Hex key dogging allows the latch to be mechanically held retracted for push/pull operation.
- Operates on 24V DC for reliable electrified performance.
- No cylinder included, giving you flexibility to specify your preferred keying.
Functional Details
The 8874 ELR function uses an internal motor to retract the latch bolt electronically, permitting authorized free access without manual operation. When combined with the fail secure ETJ trim, the lever remains locked from the outside until power is applied or a key is used, while free egress from the inside is always available.
- Electric latch retraction for remote operation and access control.
- Fail secure outside trim locks the lever when power is off.
- Free egress at all times from the inside.
Arm Type Details
This is a rim-mounted exit device, meaning the mechanism and strike are surface-applied to the face of the door and frame. The push rail spans the door width and activates the latch when depressed, providing fast, reliable egress for single doors or paired openings.
Included Components
The device ships with the 8874 rim exit chassis, ETJ lever trim, 24V electric latch retraction module, and hex key dogging hardware. A cylinder is not included and must be ordered separately if required.
