Sargent 56-8874-G-ETP-12V Electrified Rim Exit Device, Electric Latch Retraction, Fail Secure Power Off Locks Lever, No Cylinder, For 43-48 Inch Width Door, Hex Key Dogging

The Sargent 56-8874-G-ETP-12V is an electrified rim exit device built for demanding commercial and institutional openings that require remote access control. Featuring Electric Latch Retraction (ELR), this device pulls the latch electronically to allow momentary or continuous free access, making it ideal for integration with card readers, timers, or building automation systems. The fail-secure design keeps the lever locked when power is removed, maintaining security during outages. Configured with the G (ETP) escutcheon lever trim and sized for 43 to 48 inch wide doors, it supports hex key dogging and operates on 12V DC. Its rugged construction meets heavy-duty standards for high-traffic environments.

Features

  • Electric latch retraction allows remote, electronic release of the latch for controlled access.
  • Fail secure operation keeps the lever locked when power is lost, preserving security.
  • Designed for doors ranging from 43 to 48 inches in width.
  • Operates on 12V DC power for compatibility with common access control systems.
  • Hex key dogging holds the latch retracted for push/pull operation during peak traffic.
  • Supplied without a cylinder, allowing you to match your existing keying system.
  • Rim-mounted design for straightforward installation on single or double doors.

Functional Details

The 8874 ELR function uses an internal motor to retract the latch electronically when signaled by an external access control device. When power is applied, the latch pulls in to permit free entry; when power is removed, the device returns to a fail-secure state with the outside lever locked. Mechanical egress from the inside is always available by pushing the exit device.

  • Electric latch retraction allows for remote unlatching and mechanical dogging.
  • Fail secure: outside lever is locked when power is off.
  • Free egress at all times via the push bar.

Arm Type Details

This device uses the G (ETP) escutcheon-style lever trim. The lever provides keyless, controlled entry when the latch is retracted and remains rigid and locked in the fail-secure state until power or mechanical dogging releases the latch.

Included Components

The device ships as a complete rim exit assembly with ETP escutcheon lever trim, electric latch retraction module, and hex key dogging. A cylinder is not included and must be ordered separately to match your keying requirements.
