Sargent 56-8874-J-ETP-12V Electrified Rim Exit Device, Electric Latch Retraction, Fail Secure Power Off Locks Lever, No Cylinder, For 37-42 Inch Width Door, Hex Key Dogging

The Sargent 56-8874-J-ETP-12V is a heavy-duty electrified rim exit device engineered for high-traffic commercial openings that demand reliable access control. This Grade 1 device features Electric Latch Retraction (ELR), allowing the latch to be electrically withdrawn for remote access, momentary release, or integration with automatic operators and card readers. It operates on 12V DC and uses a fail secure design, meaning the outside ETP lever trim stays locked when power is lost, maintaining security. Fitted for doors 37 to 42 inches wide, it ships without a cylinder and includes hex key dogging for mechanical hold-open. A dependable choice for secured entrances requiring electrified egress.

Features

  • Electric Latch Retraction (ELR) electrically withdraws the latch for remote and automated access control.
  • Fail secure operation keeps the outside lever locked during a power loss for continuous security.
  • 12V DC operation for compatibility with common low-voltage access control systems.
  • ETP lever trim provides accessible, ergonomic operation on the exterior side.
  • Sized for doors measuring 37 to 42 inches in width.
  • Hex key dogging allows the latch to be held retracted for push/pull operation.
  • Supplied without a cylinder to accommodate your preferred keying system.
  • Grade 1 construction built for durability in demanding commercial environments.

Functional Details

The 8874 ELR function electrifies the exit device so the latchbolt can be retracted via an electrical signal. When energized, the latch retracts to permit free passage or remote entry; when de-energized in this fail secure configuration, the outside lever remains locked while free egress is always maintained from the inside.

  • Electric latch retraction for remote operation and momentary release.
  • Fail secure: outside trim locked on power failure.
  • Free egress at all times from the push side.
  • Compatible with access control, automatic operators, and remote release systems.

Arm Type Details

This device uses the J-ETP lever trim configuration. The ETP escutcheon-style lever provides durable exterior access and remains locked in the fail secure mode until the device is energized or a valid cylinder (sold separately) is used.

Included Components

The device ships as an electrified rim exit device with ETP lever trim, electric latch retraction module, and integrated hex key dogging. A mortise cylinder is not included and must be ordered separately.
