Sargent 8774-G-ETP-96-24V Electrified Surface Vertical Rod Exit Device, Fail Secure, For 43-48" Width, 96" Ht Door

The Sargent 8774-G-ETP-96-24V is a heavy-duty electrified surface vertical rod exit device built for high-traffic commercial openings that require both dependable panic egress and electronic access control. Sized for oversized doors measuring 43" to 48" wide and 96" tall, it operates on 24V DC in a fail-secure configuration, keeping the outside lever locked when power is interrupted. The G-ETP electrified lever trim delivers smooth, durable operation, while the surface-mounted vertical rods provide secure top and bottom latching. Constructed to ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 standards, this 8700 Series device offers the strength and reliability needed for demanding, secured entrances where controlled access is essential.

  • Surface-mounted vertical rod design provides secure top and bottom latching.
  • Electrified fail-secure operation keeps the outside lever locked during power loss.
  • Operates on 24V DC for integration with access control systems.
  • Sized for oversized 43"–48" wide by 96" tall doors.

Functional Details

In a fail-secure configuration, the outside trim remains locked when power is removed and unlocks only when power is applied. Free egress from the inside is always available by pressing the push bar, satisfying life-safety requirements while maintaining perimeter security.

  • Outside trim is electrically locked and unlocked.
  • Key or power unlocks the outside lever for entry.
  • Loss of power leaves the outside lever locked.
  • Inside push bar always allows free egress.

Arm Type Details

The G-ETP designation indicates the electrified lever trim style, which pairs with the surface vertical rod chassis to provide controlled access from the exterior. The lever remains fixed until the device is energized, at which point it becomes operable to retract the latches and allow entry.

Included Components

This device ships with the surface vertical rod exit chassis, top and bottom rod assemblies, strikes, and the G-ETP electrified lever trim for the specified door size.
