The Sargent 12-8715E-96 is a fire rated surface vertical rod exit device engineered for dependable performance on tall openings up to 96 inches. Part of Sargent's respected 8700 Series, this 32-inch device is configured as exit only (less trim) and comes less dogging, making it ideal for fire-rated applications where mechanical hold-open is not permitted. The surface-mounted vertical rods secure the door at both the top and bottom, delivering reliable two-point latching and smooth, reliable egress. Built to meet Grade 1 commercial standards, it's a strong choice for schools, hospitals, and other high-traffic commercial environments that demand code-compliant life-safety hardware.

Functional Details

As an exit-only device, the push rail retracts both the top and bottom latches simultaneously when pressed, allowing the door to open freely from the inside. Because it is less trim, there is no exterior operating trim, so the door cannot be opened from the outside. The less dogging feature keeps the device self-latching at all times to maintain the fire rating.
