Sargent 12-8715F-96 Fire Rated Surface Vertical Rod Exit Device, Exit Only, 36" Device, 96" Door Height, Less Trim, Less Dogging

The Sargent 12-8715F-96 is a fire rated surface vertical rod exit device built for reliable egress on tall openings up to 96 inches. Part of the durable 8700 Series, this exit-only device operates without outside trim, making it ideal for secured exterior doors and stairwell applications where entry from the opposite side is not required. The 36" device accommodates standard door widths, while the fire rating makes it suitable for labeled fire door assemblies. Constructed to meet commercial-grade demands, it delivers dependable touchpad actuation and long-term performance in high-traffic environments. The less dogging configuration keeps the latch active at all times, a requirement for fire-rated hardware.

Features

  • Fire rated surface vertical rod exit device designed for labeled fire door assemblies.
  • Exit-only function with no outside trim for secured, egress-only openings.
  • Sized as a 36" device to fit standard commercial door widths.
  • Engineered for tall doors up to 96 inches in height.
  • Less dogging configuration keeps latches active at all times, as required for fire doors.
  • Heavy-duty construction for high-use commercial and institutional settings.

Functional Details

As an exit-only device, the 12-8715F-96 allows free egress by depressing the touchpad while providing no means of entry from the exterior, since it is supplied without outside trim. Pushing the touchpad retracts both the top and bottom vertical rod latches simultaneously, releasing the door for exit. The fire rated design prohibits mechanical dogging, ensuring the latches remain engaged to maintain the integrity of the fire door assembly.
