Sargent 12-8715G-96 Fire Rated Surface Vertical Rod Exit Device, Exit Only, 48" Device, 96" Door Height, Less Trim, Less Dogging

The Sargent 12-8715G-96 is a fire rated surface vertical rod exit device built for heavy-duty commercial openings that require reliable life-safety performance. Designed for 48" wide devices on tall 96" doors, this exit-only model operates without exterior trim, providing secure egress on fire-rated door assemblies. As part of Sargent's respected 8700 Series, it combines rugged construction with dependable touchpad actuation. The surface-mounted top and bottom vertical rods latch the door at both points for added strength and alignment. Supplied less dogging to meet fire-rated code requirements, this device is a durable, Grade 1 solution for schools, hospitals, offices, and other high-traffic environments.

Features

  • Fire rated surface vertical rod exit device for use on labeled fire door assemblies.
  • Exit-only function with no exterior trim for secure, egress-only openings.
  • Sized for a 48" device width on doors up to 96" in height.
  • Surface-mounted top and bottom vertical rods for secure two-point latching.
  • Less dogging to comply with fire-rated door code requirements.
  • Grade 1 construction designed for durability in high-traffic commercial use.

Functional Details

The 8715 exit-only configuration allows free egress at all times by pressing the touchpad, which retracts the top and bottom latch bolts simultaneously. Since there is no exterior trim, the door cannot be opened from the outside, making it ideal for secondary exits and stairwell doors.

  • Exit only (no outside operation)
  • Surface vertical rod
