The Sargent 56-LC-8706-J-ETJ-96 is an electrified surface vertical rod exit device built for heavy-duty commercial and institutional openings. Configured for storeroom function with the J (ET) lever trim, it provides secure, electrically controlled access on wide doors measuring 37" to 42" and tall 96" openings. The 56 electrification option enables remote control and monitoring integration, while the surface-mounted vertical rods deliver dependable two-point latching at the top and bottom of the door. Supplied less cylinder (LC), this device allows you to pair your preferred mortise cylinder to match an existing keying system, making it a flexible choice for schools, hospitals, and office buildings.

Functional Details

The storeroom function (8706) keeps the outside lever continuously locked. The latch is retracted only by key or by depressing the touchpad from the egress side, while free egress is always available from the inside. With the 56 electrification, the trim can be electrically controlled for remote locking and unlocking.

Arm Type Details

This exit device uses a surface vertical rod configuration, with latching rods mounted on the door face running to top and bottom strikes. This provides two-point latching for added security and door alignment on tall openings without mortising into the door edge.
