Sargent 8715J-96 Surface Vertical Rod Exit Device, Exit Only, 42" Device, 96" Door Height, Less Trim, Hex Key Dogging

The Sargent 8715J-96 is a surface vertical rod exit device built for demanding commercial openings that require reliable, code-compliant egress. Designed for exit-only applications, this 42" device fits doors up to 96" in height and ships less trim, making it ideal for installations where no outside operation is needed. It features hex key dogging, allowing the push bar to be held in a retracted position for push-pull convenience during high-traffic periods. Part of Sargent's heavy-duty 8700 Series, this device delivers Grade 1 durability and dependable performance across schools, offices, healthcare facilities, and other institutional settings.

Features

  • Surface-mounted vertical rod design for secure top and bottom latching.
  • Exit-only function with no outside trim for simplified, egress-focused installations.
  • Sized for 42" wide devices and doors up to 96" in height.
  • Hex key dogging holds the latch retracted to allow free push-pull operation.
  • Grade 1 construction for high-frequency commercial and institutional use.
  • Part of the proven Sargent 8700 Series exit device line.

Functional Details

As an exit-only device, the 8715J operates purely for egress. Depressing the push bar simultaneously retracts the top and bottom latch bolts, releasing the door. The hex key dogging feature lets authorized personnel mechanically hold the latches retracted for continuous push-pull access.

  • Exit only, no outside trim
  • Surface vertical rod
  • Hex key dogging standard
