The Sargent 8974-F-ETJ-24V is a Grade 1 electrified mortise exit device engineered for secure, high-traffic commercial openings on doors 33" to 36" wide. Built around a durable mortise lock case, it features a 24V fail secure electrified trim (ET control) with the J lever design, allowing access control integration while maintaining free egress at all times. In a fail secure configuration, the outside lever stays locked until power is applied, making it ideal for controlled-entry applications. No Cylinder: this configuration has no cylinder override and does not require an override cylinder. Hex key dogging holds the pushbar depressed for push/pull operation during peak hours.

Functional Details

This 24V DC electrified ET trim operates in fail secure mode. With power removed, the outside lever is locked. Applying power unlocks the outside lever. When unlocked, turning the outside lever retracts the mortise latch. Operating the inside push rail permits egress regardless of the electrical state of the trim. No Cylinder: this configuration has no cylinder override and does not require an override cylinder.

Trim and Lever Details

The ET trim has a J lever. Electrical power controls whether the outside lever is locked or unlocked; operating an unlocked lever retracts the latch. Select the LHR or RHR handing to suit the opening.
