Sargent LC-12-8904-J-PTB Fire Rated Mortise Exit Device, Nightlatch Function, PTB Thumbpiece Trim, 37-42" Door, Less Cylinder, Less Dogging, Grade 1

The Sargent LC-12-8904-J-PTB is a fire-rated 8900 Series mortise exit device with function 04 nightlatch operation and PTB thumbpiece pull trim, sized for 37 to 42-inch door widths. LC specifies less cylinder. The J designation identifies the rail size.

• Grade 1 mortise exit device with PTB trim.
• Key retracts the latch for outside entry; pressing the inside pushbar provides egress.
• Less dogging for the fire-rated configuration.
• Handed trim: select LHR or RHR.
• Cylinder supplied separately.

Function 04 is nightlatch operation: the key retracts the latch. It does not leave the exterior thumbpiece unlocked for continuous operation. LC means less cylinder; for a 1-3/4-inch door with PTB trim, the catalog lists a SARGENT #41 mortise cylinder (1-1/8-inch length).

The 12- prefix identifies the fire-rated configuration. The permitted rating and opening size depend on the listed door material, opening arrangement and complete assembly. Refer to the SARGENT fire-door rating chart; a three-hour rating does not apply automatically to every opening.
