The Sargent LC-8976-J-ETB-24V is a Grade 1 electrified mortise exit device engineered for demanding commercial openings that require controlled access and reliable security. Built for doors measuring 37 to 42 inches wide, this device operates on 24V and features a fail secure function, meaning the outside trim remains locked during a power loss while free egress is always available from the inside. It comes with the ETB trim featuring a B lever, J design cylinder prep, and hex key dogging for convenient mechanical hold-open. Supplied less cylinder, it allows integrators to specify their own cylinder to match existing keying systems.

Functional Details

This 24V DC electrified ET trim operates in fail secure mode. With power removed, the outside lever is locked. Applying power unlocks the outside lever. When unlocked, turning the outside lever retracts the mortise latch. Operating the inside push rail permits egress regardless of the electrical state of the trim. A compatible mortise cylinder, ordered separately, provides mechanical key override.

Trim and Lever Details

The ET trim has a B lever. Electrical power controls whether the outside lever is locked or unlocked; operating an unlocked lever retracts the latch. Select the LHR or RHR handing to suit the opening.

Device ships with the 8976 mortise exit chassis, ETB electrified trim with B lever, mounting hardware, and hex key dogging provisions. Mortise cylinder is not included and must be ordered separately.
