On July 22, 2024, Assa Abloy announced the acquisition of Skidata from the Swedish business technology firm Kuldelski Group. They took this step to expand their portfolio and increase their global presence.

Skidata is headquartered in Salzberg, Austria. The company specializes in hardware and software solutions for large-scale venues such as stadiums and Mountain resorts and offers a wide range of access technologies, including biometric identification and NFC scanning. In 2020, Skidata's access control technology was combined with facial recognition software from STC for use at the VTB Arena in Russia.

This acquisition will see Skidata integrated into Assa Abloy's Entrance Systems Division, specifically within their Pedestrian business segment.

Skidata is excited to join Assa Abloy, believing the merger will provide additional resources and expand its market reach while maintaining its brand identity. While, Assa Abloy sees Skidata's product portfolio as a valuable addition to its current offerings, strengthening its position in the access control solutions market. This acquisition aligns with Assa Abloy's strategy of expanding its core business through complementary products and solutions.

The deal is expected to be finalized in the third quarter of this year, pending necessary approvals. Assa Abloy will purchase Skidata for 340 million euros, equivalent to 369 million US dollars.
